I use brown sugar because I like the taste of molasses, but you can use granulated sugar, honey or maple syrup. I only used 1/2 cup of sugar for the whole thing, but if you like it really sweet you can go up to 3/4 cup.
Once the milk syrup has cooled, add your favorite "milk".
Drive according to your taste. I like to use pure vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste. If you want spice, throw in the cinnamon sticks or cardamom pods when the milk boils, then strain and cool before using.
Extend the shelf life of the milk you use for your homemade cream. Check your cream when it reaches this date. If it smells bad or isn't smooth, throw it out.
